What facility teams ask us first

What is the difference between a commercial signal booster and a DAS?+

A commercial booster (BDA) is an off-air, carrier-agnostic amplifier system: one donor antenna feeds an amplifier that redistributes all carriers through interior antennas. A traditional DAS is fed by a carrier base station or small cell and requires carrier participation, longer timelines and far higher budgets. For 90% of buildings under 500,000 sq ft, an FCC-certified passive DAS booster system delivers the same in-building experience at roughly a tenth of the cost.

How much does a commercial cell booster system cost?+

Installed commercial systems typically run $1.50–$3.00 per square foot depending on ceiling height, construction materials, number of carriers required and how much conduit and plenum-rated cabling the building needs. A 50,000 sq ft warehouse usually lands between $45,000 and $90,000 turnkey. Small multi-tenant offices under 15,000 sq ft often finish under $25,000.

Do we need carrier approval?+

Consumer boosters require simple carrier registration. Industrial-grade Part 20 systems above certain power levels require carrier consent, which we handle as part of the engagement — including the paperwork with AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and FirstNet.

What about public safety radio (ERRCS)?+

Cellular boosters do not satisfy fire code. NFPA 72 and IFC Section 510 require a separate public safety ERRCS/BDA on the 700/800 MHz band, with NEMA 4 enclosures, battery backup and annual testing. We design and install both systems together so one contractor owns the entire RF scope.

How long does a deployment take?+

Survey to sign-off is typically 3–6 weeks. Site survey and RF benchmark takes one day, engineered design and quote 3–5 business days, procurement 1–2 weeks and installation 2–10 days depending on square footage and after-hours restrictions.

Will it work if there is no signal outside the building?+

An off-air booster amplifies existing outside signal — it cannot create it. If the rooftop benchmark is below roughly -110 dBm RSRP, we recommend a small cell, fiber-fed DAS or a carrier-provided solution instead.
